Friends of Trees Forum 2016 (April 22-23,Topacz Castle near Wrocław)

Ogólnopolskie Forum Przyjaciół Drzew 2016 The 2nd national Friends of Trees Forum will be held on April 22-23, in Topacz Castle near Wrocław. The Forum will gather activists who protect trees, tree professionals and public officials. The keynote speaker will be prof. Francis Hallé, a French botanist, researcher of tropical forests, educator. He will speak about the essence of the tree. Prof. Hallé co-authored the film „Once upon a Forest”, directed by Luc Jacquet.

Vision Zero for Poland’s Avenues - Improving Traffic Safety in Tree-lined Roads (Ożarów, 3-4th December 2015)

A conference Vision Zero for Poland’s Avenues - Improving Traffic Safety in Tree-lined Roads was held on December 3-4th in Ożarów near Warsaw.  Speakers and participants represented road services, local authorities, police, road construction companies and  environmental organizations. They concluded that roads that are  safer and still green and beautiful are possible. Joint efforts are necessary to reduce number of fatalities, while preserving avenues - the natural and cultural heritage.

The Białowieża Seminar (IX 2015)

In September 2015, a group of arborists, experts and activists in the name of trees met together at the famous Białowieża to participate in an exceptional event – a 2-day seminar on Pielęgnacja drzew w trakcie całego ich życia (“Tending trees throughout their lives”). The 30 participants hailed from Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Italy, Kaliningrad District, the UK and the USA.

Friends of Trees Forum 2014

On September 11th 2014 in Wrocław, we convened the first Poland-wide Forum for the Friends of Trees. This was at the same time Poland’s first gathering of NGOs, informal groups and activists committed to the better safeguarding of Poland’s trees. The Forum also attracted attendance from abroad, with the foreign experts presenting their experiences with protecting trees in Germany, the Czech Republic, the UK, Spain and Russia.

We planted the first Polish-German transboundary avenue of trees

The ceremonial planting and opening of Europe’s first transboundary avenue of trees took place within the framework of the Avenues in place of borders action, on April 16th 2014, at 13:00, at the border crossing between Poland’s Warnik (in the gmina of Kołbaskowo) and Ladenthin (in the German district of Vorpommern-Greifswald).
